Our Story

Born From a Vision for Moyamba

Once celebrated as a hub of academic excellence, Moyamba District was renowned for producing outstanding results and distinguished individuals whose contributions shaped national development. Over the years, however, educational outcomes declined and development lagged behind the district's true potential.

The Moyamba District Students' Union (MoDSU) was established on 1st April 2020 as a direct, student-driven response. It is a democratic platform where students from tertiary institutions, universities, and colleges unite under a shared passion for progress and meaningful change.

United by a commitment to harnessing untapped potential through strategic engagements, collaboration, and innovation, MoDSU stands as the bridge to a developed, educated, and united Moyamba District.

Our Journey

MoDSU Timeline

April 2020
MoDSU Revived

The Moyamba District Students' Union is officially established on 1st April 2020 as a democratic, student-led platform to unite tertiary students from Moyamba District across Sierra Leone.

2020
Constitution Ratified

The MoDSU National Constitution is reviewed and ratified, establishing governance structures, membership criteria, electoral processes, and the rights and obligations of all members.

2021
First National Executive Elected

MoDSU holds its first democratic election for the National Executive, establishing the President, Vice President, Secretary General, PRO, Financial Secretary, and Welfare Officer positions.

2022
Campus Chapters Established

MoDSU expands its reach with the establishment of campus chapters across multiple tertiary institutions attended by students from Moyamba District throughout Sierra Leone.

2023
Programs Launch & Growth

MoDSU launches flagship programs including the Scholarship & Excellence Program, Leadership Development series, and Community Development initiatives, impacting hundreds of students.

2024–Present
Expanding Impact

MoDSU continues to grow its membership, deepen partnerships with stakeholders, and scale programs that directly benefit students and the Moyamba District community.
